Pendulum

'It was just after school. Selena was walking to her mothers car, listening to her music. viva los vegas was the song. she loved that song, only 'cause she loved vegas. She hummed quietly, walking calmly to her mothers car as theother kids piled into the bus. Selena was almostto her mothers car when her mother began to drive away."what? w-wait! hey! MOM!!!! " She began to chase her mother around the school parking lot. As she ran, the music viva los vegas played in her ears. Selena, having a good drink of rum from her locker just before she left, chased the car yelling and swearing as loudly as she could, throwing various objects at her mothers car. The kids around the parking lot and on the bus had stopped to watch the scene. On the fourth lap around the parking lot, Selena screamed as she ran. "MOM!!! STOP THE CAR!!!!!!!" and finally, her mother obliged, slamming on the brakes. Selena collided with the back end of the car, falling backwards and collapsing on the ground. She didnt see her, but heard her mothers voice."oh hi sweetie." selena groaned and sat up."damn mom..." she picked up her Mp3 off the ground and climbed into the back of the car'

Selana sat up quickly, waking from the dream. damn...why did she have to remember that day. of all days she could have remembered, it was that one day, that one moment....

She groaned and climbed out of the bed. About a month ago, she had left her old home behind and woken up here, in good old England. The confusing part was, she never intended to leave, and she certainly never took the trip from america to England. She had no idea how she had fallen asleep in her bed at home, and woken up in an orphanage in old england. When she said old, she didnt refer to just old buildings. She meant the past. She had left america in 2012, and woken up in england in queen victoria's time. how wonderful.

She was utterly confused by the happenings of it all, and after a month of desperate searching and researching, had given up on finding a way home. Now she lived at the orphanage, at the age of 16. what was the name of this place again? she forgot. hell. thats what she thought of this place. She barely ate anymore, thanks to the fact that just being with other people made her sick. so she limited her interaction with them.

What a pain this was...if she could just leave...yes. thats what she would do. she had a good sized knife in her pocket, she could run fast, fight hard if she wanted to. why not? The thought made her grin. "heh...watch out, england. at home, i was a problem. here, ill be a terror." she muttered evilly, as she sat up. then she collapsed back on the bed again, sighing."but im too lazy for something like that right now..."she sighed and rest her arms behind her head.

Maybe some other time...she would take action and leave. no. now. Selena sat up and frowned."im leaving. now." she walked to teh window and climbed out, jumping down to the ground. she landed and rolled, twisting her ankle slightly. she hissed and paused for a second, before getting up and walking to the darkened streets.

Selena looked around not at all feeling satisfied with her miraculous escape. "...what the hell...that was pathetic..."she sighed and shrugged. "whatever." she turned to look at her shadow. "lets go. i really need a better hobby than this, but whatever. talking to shadows works too." she turned and once again looked around. "where to go from here..." she sighed again, walking down the dark, abandoned street. She held a long and lengthy,one-sided conversation with her shadow.

As she walked, she began to notice more people. Dark, threatening, mean looking people. There was the scent of alcohol in the air. That was enough to send her running down the street, with the feeling that her father was right behind her again. No matter how far she ran…he was always there. In the corners of her mind and fear.
